Nature-based Solutions (NbS) have proven to be a viable option for adapting to the effects of climate change. They promote the maintenance of ecosystem services, biodiversity conservation, job creation, and poverty reduction (UNEP 2019).
Through RESPONSA, we aim to enable 16 participating organizations to address today’s social challenges responsibly by strengthening the planning and implementation of NbS initiatives. Building on learning and experience-sharing, we will promote adopting initiatives and perspectives to better benefit regional communities in the face of climate change and contribute to sustainable development in Northwest and West Mexico.
The RESPONSA project has four components focused on strengthening:
- Technical expertise in Nature-based Solutions
- Management of socio-environmental projects
- Collaborative leadership in conservation
- Institutional development topics: resource mobilization for sustainability
RESPONSA’s first cohort if possible thanks to the “Strengthening Mexican Civil Society Leaders in Implementing Nature-based Solutions,” project made possible by funding from the UK Government through the Darwin Initiative.
